To Do the Damn Thing
Register for the next workshop to create your personalized Wellbeing Change Plan
Making a plan during the Preparation stage turns good intentions into concrete, actionable steps. In this workshop, you’ll map out realistic daily routines that fit your life, strategize how to handle old challenges and distractions when they inevitably pop up and identify who or what you’ll turn to when you need support. We’ll cover everything you need to set yourself up for success. Because as they say, prior preparation prevents panic and procrastination!
The Stages of Change
The Prochaska change model, a psychological framework for how people successfully change stubborn habits like smoking, outlines six stages: Precontemplation (not on your radar), Contemplation (thinking about it), Preparation (planning), Action (doing it), Maintenance (staying on track), and Relapse (a normal part of the process). This model is central to the Vurb Way because it recognizes that different stages of change require different approaches.
Planning in the Preparation Stage
Before you buy the gym membership and paper the Internet with your resume, you must map out a real, honest-to-goodness game plan—tools included. Because let’s face it, you’re still you. You’ll still want to flake when it drizzles, reach for the candy bar, or stay up late because fill in the blank. Wanting to change is just the beginning of being serious about going after "the thing." Preparation is a crucial step in the change process that most people skip to the detriment of their goals and something we emphasize.
